Avon Law Firm Serving Indiana
Although Baker & Gilchrist represents victims of medical malpractice and other forms of personal injury across the state of Indiana, we are proud to serve the residents of Hendricks County and make our home in the growing community of Avon.
In fact, attorneys Rex Baker and Caroline Gilchrist both left larger Indianapolis law firms specifically so they could practice law in the western suburbs of Indianapolis and work closer to their families, friends and neighbors.
Our Avon attorneys’ office is located 7388 Business Center Drive in Avon, just off Rockville Road. Our office is also close to Plainfield, Brownsburg and other communities in Hendricks County.

A Small Avon Law Firm on the Cutting Edge
We believe in keeping our law practice small enough so that we can provide personal attention to each one of our clients and carefully guide them through one of the most difficult chapters in their lives.
Our staff features attorneys with five decades of combined legal experience as well as nurses who provide invaluable assistance with evaluating clients’ cases. We also consult with medical experts throughout Indiana and across the country who hail from a wide range of medical fields.
We use video and provide comprehensive settlement packages when attempting to settle a case and we consider using jury consultants, technical experts, and focus groups when getting cases ready for trial.
Our Avon Attorneys’ Convenient Location
By being based in Hendricks County, right outside of Indianapolis, our law firm is conveniently located near some of the largest hospitals in the state of Indiana. These medical facilities include IU Health West Hospital and Hendricks Regional Hospital – located only a few miles from our office – as well as the following hospitals in Indianapolis and surrounding counties:
- IU Health Center
- St. Vincent Hospital and Health Centers
- Franciscan St. Francis Health
- Community Health Network
- Witham Health Services.
We also can easily access state and federal courts located within our region, including the Circuit and Superior Courts of Hendricks County and Marion County and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
Indiana Lawyers: A Voice in Our Community
Our firm’s attorneys are active in the civic life of our community as well as the broader local and state legal community.
Rex Baker, for instance, has served as an adjunct associate professor at Indiana University-Purdue University, teaching courses on evidence and other legal areas. He also has served on the Indianapolis Bar Association litigation section’s executive committee and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. He has also been involved with local chapters of the Christian Legal Society and American Inns of Court.
Since 1999, Caroline Gilchrist has served as the primary trainer for the Basic Family Mediation Training course offered by the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum and is a frequent presenter at other continuing education seminars. Caroline is a member of the Board of Directors of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, she is a fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation, and she is a member of the American Center for Law and Justice.
For instance, Indianapolis TV station Fox 59 interviewed Caroline in 2014 for a report that focused on IU Health’s adoption of new technology aimed at preventing surgical sponges from being left inside patients’ bodies.
